From safeguarding seeds to that of human beings, knowledge and ideas: the mission of Autosufficienza Farm
For 300,000 years human beings evolved on Earth in self-sufficiency thanks to what nature offered, fitting into natural cycles and the Earth’s ecological balance. Men and women were able to build their own shelter with what nature offered in the surroundings, to procure and self-produce the food they needed, to warm themselves with fire, to treat themselves with medicinal herbs, to survive major epidemics and catastrophes.
It was certainly not an idyllic evolution, but we have arrived at today thanks to the resilience that characterises our species, to our ability to adapt to changes and to overcome even the biggest crises and epidemics by virtue of our internal resources.
Homo artificialis
In the West in a few decades we have unlearnt everything, becoming increasingly subjugated to a small group of multinationals and oligarchs and increasingly less suited to surviving on planet Earth.
We are increasingly weak, we depend on a handful of companies for seeds, for fertilisers, for food, for energy, for heat, for water, for health, for entertainment, for communicating with each other and increasingly for all the small and large choices we make every day. Often it is a satellite navigator that chooses for us whether to turn left or right, an algorithm that chooses what is the best hotel or restaurant for our tastes. Soon algorithms will know us better than we know ourselves and will be able to choose what to buy, whom to marry, what job to do instead of us.
The evolution of artificial intelligence, robotics, microchips and human-machine integration are projecting us into a new world, completely dependent on whoever controls the world of the artificial.
Western man is becoming increasingly similar to a GMO plant. We have increasing difficulty reproducing naturally, we are unable to survive without more or less invasive health treatments, we pollute more and more, we need more and more water, more and more energy and we are completely disconnected from natural biological cycles.

Autosufficienza Farm
Twelve years ago I chose to take a different direction from that traced by the large multinationals. Certainly a much more winding path, much more uphill, but one that guarantees an incomparable view.
A place that had been uninhabited for fifty years and no longer cultivated for twenty years because of little interest for the motorway of economy and finance, in just over ten years has been transformed into an Eden with natural building structures, terraced vegetable gardens, food forests, vineyard, fruit trees, berries, aromatic herbs, chickens, sheep, bees, water basins and spaces of beauty and biodiversity.
The farm – initially conceived as an agricultural enterprise and resilience project for my family – has evolved into a centre for hospitality, training, inspiration: a constant laboratory for the creation of a new world based on the common good, on the good of the next seven generations and on the beauty and coherence of natural biodiversity.
Two societies compared
The lifestyle and coherence we promote allow us to make very practical comparisons with the society that surrounds us:
- in the last two years no one at the farm has ever worn masks, used pesticide hand gel, had vaccines or tests;
- contrary to the provisions imposed by big pharma, we have continued to live in a human way, to embrace each other, dance, sing, meet in front of the fire regardless of the insane restrictions on movement imposed on the population;
- we have worked on health and on the elasticity of the immune system rather than on sterility and fighting viruses.
The result has been exceptional, if compared to the society guided by the interests of chemistry and multinationals. At the farm we are all healthy and by this term we do not mean simple absence of symptoms but physical, mental and social wellbeing.
A new world is possible
In 2021 two babies were already born at the farm. One is my son, the other of a family that chose to live in the same context just over a year ago.
Giulia and Beatrice experienced pregnancy in great serenity without doing tests, visits or other typical activities of sick people. They were in the open air, they walked in the woods, they fully lived one of the most beautiful periods of their lives.
The babies were born at home, without health care assistance. The birth was very quick, a physiological act that has nothing to do with typical places of illness. Breastfed, without need for paediatricians, vaccines or other tricks of the chemical-pharmaceutical industry, the children are growing up healthy in contact with the earth, with animals and with other free children.
They will learn from the school of nature, they will observe adults in the typical tasks of humans such as producing food, working wood, building, but also relating around the fire, embracing each other, celebrating and honouring nature, its gifts and its incredible abundance.
And then they will take their own path in freedom ready to live on this planet and to also build the best for the next seven generations.
