Autosufficienza was born in 2009 from the dream of Francesco A. Rosso and his family, who chose to bring abandoned land and ruins back to life. Today the production and hospitality center stands in the municipality of Bagno di Romagna (FC), on the borders of the Casentinesi Forests National Park (a UNESCO heritage site): a wonderful place, immersed in the unspoiled nature of the Romagna Apennines.
Established as a Benefit Agricultural Company, Autosufficienza works to create economic, social, human and ecological value, promoting culture, awareness and sustainable lifestyles.
It is a place of peace and reconnection, ideal for retreats and moments dedicated to listening to ourselves and the environment around us. We are committed to caring for people and the planet in every way, not only in individual aspects of health or ecology, but in their deep interconnection.
The project was born in 2009 from the ruins of an abandoned farm. Today Autosufficienza is a meeting place and a union between humans and nature, a source of inspiration for those seeking a simple, healthy life in harmony with the environment. Tomorrow it will continue to grow as a living space of experimentation, community and awareness, nurturing shared dreams and new ways of inhabiting the earth.
Autosufficienza is, year after year, the concrete expression of the change we wish to bring to the world. Every day we experiment with a lifestyle based on ethics and sustainability, with the intent of being an example and inspiration for a more conscious society in harmony with nature.
Our vision is for Autosufficienza to become a World Heritage site: a living and shared place, capable of inspiring a new way of inhabiting the world. A community model based on balance, health, resilience and sustainability, where every choice stems from respect for life in all its forms.
We believe in research that stems from respect: for the land, for people, for what we create. Every project is a step towards a more harmonious balance between innovation and nature, between knowledge and listening. For us, sustainability is a daily journey, made of conscious choices and gestures that leave a light footprint on the world.
We believe that beauty nourishes the soul and creates harmony around and within us. Order is presence, listening, space that breathes. Care is an act of love and excellence, in every gesture. We safeguard biodiversity as a sacred treasure, in nature and among people. We are driven by a profound ethic: choosing the common good, today and for generations to come.
We experience the territory as a common home, a place that welcomes and inspires us every day.
We cultivate authentic relationships and preserve nature’s richness with care and gratitude.
Every action we take stems from the desire to care — for the land, for those who inhabit it, and for the future we build together.
Autosufficienza has become a subject of study and source of inspiration for students from diverse backgrounds. Several thesis projects have emerged from stays, observations, interviews, and shared experiences here.
In these works, our experience takes shape through new perspectives, weaving together thought, presence, nature, and community.
Every retreat at Autosufficienza is led by a team of teachers united by a shared vision: guiding people on a journey toward balance and awareness.
Highly experienced professionals from different fields, brought together by common values, share knowledge ranging from nutrition to meditation, from fasting to self-production.
Each offering is designed to nourish body, mind, and spirit, and to remind us that true change begins from within—through simple actions and a new awareness that reflects out into the world.
We are people who share the same horizon: working with passion, respect, and mutual trust.
Every day we bring different skills and a common spirit, made of collaboration and listening.
Because our strength comes from here — from authentic relationships and from an energy that unites us like one big family.
